Relative Pronoun adalah kata ganti penghubung yang digunakan untuk membentuk sebuah kalimat yang berasal dari dua buah kalimat.
1. Who : Digunakan untuk menggantikan orang yang berkedudukan sebagai subyek.
Ex: Finny is angry
She has just lost in the game
· Finny who has just lost in the game is angry
The people were mostly young soldier
They were killed during the war
· The people who were killed the war were mostly young soldier
2. Whom : Digunakan untuk menggantikan frase orang yang berkedudukan sebagai obyek atau complement.
Ex: The men are angry
I don’t like the men
· The men whom I don’t like are angry
Lea Selenga lives in Philippine
Bram loves her very much
· Lea Selenga Whom Bram loves very much lives in Philippine
3. Whose : Digunakan untuk menggantikan frase orang yang menyatakan kepemilikan / kepunyaan
Ex: The boards was composed of citizens
The citizen’s dedication was evident
· The boards was composed of citizens whose dedication was evident
Toni’s father is in hospital now
His health hasn’t been so good lately
· Toni’s father whose health hasn’t been so good lately hospitalized now
4. Which : Digunakan untuk menggantikan frase bukan orang : binatang atau benda.
Ex: Mr. Hassan bough a car
The car was made in Japan.
· The car which Mr. Hassan bough was made in Japan.
The boy had beaten the dog.
The dog ran a way
· The dog which the boy had beaten ran a way
Toni is reading the book
The book has a red cover
The book which Toni is reading has a red cover
